Damage to books sometimes happens, and occasionally a book is lost. These are the steps that are taken so that a damaged or lost book can be replaced and enjoyed by our students
A notice goes home, informing the family of an overdue book. If the book is returned, the process is over.
If the book cannot be found, the notice will inform the family of the cost to replace the book. The family may choose to send the money to school in a marked envelope. The student’s library record will be cleared of the overdue book. The family may also choose to call me at 778-3031 to discuss options in lieu of payment.
Until the overdue, lost or damaged book is accounted for, the student may not check out any more books.
If a lost book is paid for and then found (no matter how much time goes by before the book is found), the book may be returned for a refund. To receive a refund, the book must be in the condition it was in when it was checked out.
HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD AVOID LOSING OR DAMAGING LIBRARY BOOKS:
-Find a special place in your home where library books are always kept.
-Don’t pack a library book in a backpack that contains a water bottle.
-Keep books off the floor so that pets do not damage them.
-Be sure to check your vehicles, day care provider’s house, or grandparent’s house for lost books.
